Our Collaborative is beginning a wonderful process called RENEW.

This is a total parish experience designed to help us grow in faith and community. As Christians, we are called to love and support one another through this pilgrimage of life and RENEW is helping us fulfill this baptismal calling. It is a way to move into the future as a Church of hope.

The heart of this process will be the gathering of small groups of people in homes to pray, reflect on Scripture, and share their unique understanding of their faith. Each group will meet weekly for six weeks. RENEW International will provide training for anyone interested in facilitating a small group, and will provide ongoing support to guide us through the process.

This is an opportunity to reconnect with community and rekindle your faith, and we hope as many people as possible will take part!

Join fellow parishioners in the Fall of 2025, when we will build small communities from all three Beverly parishes in which we pray, learn and share our faith experiences.

FAQs

  • What is RENEW?

RENEW is a way to form small Christian communities to connect people more deeply with the Word of God, to enrich our prayer lives, to witness to one another and be strengthened by that witness, and to love and support one another through this pilgrimage of life.

  • Why Small Christian Communities?

Small Christian Communities are the future of the Catholic Church. Small groups engage their members and transform their parishes into a community of communities.

Parishioners who partake in small Christian communities not only connect to each other, but become more committed to their parishes.

  • What are Small Christian Communities?

In groups of 6 to 10 people, they gather regularly to share their faith experiences, reflect on scripture, pray together, and commit to Christian action.

Gatherings encourage mutual support and the development of deep, trusting relationships among members.

    RENEW offers opportunities for:

    • Spiritual renewal
    • Evangelization
    • Parish-wide engagement
    • Developing a closer relationship with Christ
    • Community-building
    • Reaching out in service to others

  • How long are the sessions?

There will be six weekly sessions, each one lasting 90 minutes.

  • Is RENEW based on Scripture and the teachings of the Church?

Yes, RENEW is based on Scripture and is firmly rooted in the Catholic tradition.

  • Are the Groups based on each parish?

Groups will be open to all members of the Beverly Collaborative, independent from the parish you belong to. We hope that besides renewing our personal faith, this will further strengthen how we work together at St. John the Evangelist, St. Mary Star of the Sea, and St. Margaret of Scotland.

  • Do I need to have a certain background to participate?

No, there are no prerequisites. All you need is a desire to share and learn in a small group setting.

  • What if I don’t know any other parishioners?

This is your opportunity to change that! Chances are that some of the other people in each group don’t know each other, either. You may even be able to build long-lasting friendships to go beyond the guided weekly sessions.

  • Can I join if I am not a member of any of the Beverly Catholic Parishes?

Yes, everyone who is interested in sharing and renewing their faith is welcome to join us.

  • What if I am interested but not Catholic?

If you have an interest in strengthening and renewing your faith in Christ Jesus, please don’t hesitate to join one of our small Christian communities. You are also welcome to join us at a Sunday Mass and speak to one of the priests or our parishioners to get more information.

  • How much does it cost?

The cost of the printed materials for RENEW is $xx, but don’t let that be an obstacle. The Beverly Catholic Collaborative will be happy to assist with the cost. The most important thing is that you will be able to participate!
